My intentions behind this post are twofold: 1) to organize and quantify my own shopping habits and 2) to share an affordable, plant based lifestyle with other (hypothetical) readers. It is so important to fuel your body properly and take care of yourself. So without further ado, here’s a run through of my grocery list:
Weekly:
- ~15 bananas (hannah banana..you know??)
- 3 apples
- 2-3 oranges
- 1-2 avocados
- 1 bag of grapes
- 2 lemons
- 2 onions
- brussel sprouts
- 2 zucchini
- 1 bunch of purple beets
- 5 red potatoes
- 1 carton of cruelty free milk (I choose almond)
- 1 can of coconut milk
- 1 can of garbanzo beans
- 1 can of black beans
- 1 can of pinto beans
- 1 can of crushed tomatoes
- 1 box of tomato soup (Imagine is my brand of choice–dairy free, organic)
Every other week (or so):
- pitted dates
- fresh ground peanut butter
- 1 small head of cauliflower
- 1 large bag of frozen fruit
Monthly (or so):
- rolled oats
- jam (look for low sugar content, preferably no artificial dye)
- raisins
- brown rice
- whole wheat pasta or quinoa
- chia seeds
- Bragg’s nutritional yeast
I adjust here and there depending on what I have leftover from the week prior. My grocery trips tend to be ring up in the range of $50-$60 per week. I choose to invest in my health and my body. However, that investment looks different for everyone so do what you can with what you have and nourish your body!
