Love At First Sight: Glossier

My internet history is a dark and scary place of self diagnoses, abandoned shopping carts, instructions for accomplishing basic adulthood tasks that I should know how to do by now, and pointless youtube tutorials. The Glossier website, however, is a shining beacon of light on an otherwise embarrassing track record.

Now, I must first preface this whole thing by admitting that the clean and simple aesthetic of the brand is what first caught my attention. The second kiss of approval came from chrissstttiiine (the Youtuber mentioned in my last 5 Things post). I guess I am a sucker for nice packaging and easy makeup.

* I’ve had these products for about two weeks but I wanted to give them the old college try before I gave any opinions on them.*

Perfecting Skin Tint ($26)

This little bottle of “skin tint” (featured in the small eye-dropper looking bottle) is about as sheer as makeup can get. You add about 8-10 drops to the palm of your [clean] hand and then work it into your face starting at the center and working outwards. This product is buildable to a small extent but for fuller coverage, I recommend using a small pump of your usual foundation and adding a few drops of the skin tint to sheer it out and give a more natural, dewy look.

The product comes in 5 different shades (light, medium, dark, deep, and rich). Due to how sheer and blendable they are, you probably can’t go wrong with your best guess but to help you out, they do show a range of gorgeous models on their website showing off the different shades on various skin tones which I appreciate.

It won’t cover up your freckles, clog your pores, or give you that faux oompa-loompa look that I sported for most of junior high. It will even out your skin tone, blur blemishes and leave a nice, dewy finish. It kind of looks like you’re just having a really good skin day which I can dig.

Cruelty free / fragrance free / alcohol free

Non-comedogenic / hypoallergenic / dermatologist tested

Balm DotCom ($12)

The second product I ordered is a “universal skin salve” that can be used on your lips, around your dry nose, on the high points of your cheek bones, and on your unruly fly-aways. One side of my brain tells me that this is just an expensive aquaphor but the other side tells me that is straight out of Hogwarts so the jury is still out on this one. It’s good stuff but between the two, I’d go for the skin tint and buy some chapstick.

If you’d like to check out either of these products or see what else Glossier has, feel free to use my link for 20% OFF your purchase.

Cheers, babes.
