Old-Fashioned Recipe | Happy Father’s Day

I want to wish a very happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father-figures out there. I owe a huge thank-you to my own Dad for being a constant source of advice, homework help, public embarrassment, and laughter–I love you dearly. In celebration, I’d like to share with you my dad’s recipe for his favorite drink: an Old Fashioned. Cheers!

Old-Fashioned
  • 1 sugar cube
  • 4-5 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 2 ounces Wild Turkey whiskey
  • ½ ounce Lillet Blanc
  • 1 strip of orange peel
  • 1 maraschino cherry

Place the sugar cube in the bottom of an old-fashioned glass and saturate with bitters. Muddle the sugar cube and then add crushed ice until the glass is nearly full; top it off with whiskey and Lillet. Use a lighter to heat up the orange peel (to help release the citrus oils) and then stir it into the drink. Add your cherry as a garnish and enjoy.

Cheers, babes
